GLAAD study shows the number of Americans who are comfortable with LGBTQ people are on the decline.
GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) conducts a yearly survey of the American people gauge their level of acceptance. To their surprise, the acceptance of LGBTQ people within the 18-34 age group have been in steady decline in the past years. The study's finding from 2016 shows that 63% of 18-34-year-olds were comfortable with interacting with the LGBTQ community. The numbers fell to 53% in 2017. Now they have found that in 2018 the numbers plummeted down to 45%.
Other results show that 40% of mothers 18-34 were uncomfortable learning their child had a lesson on LGBT history in school, an increase of 13 percentage points from the previous year's findings.
