University Researcher On Verge Of Major COVID-19 Discovery Found Dead.
Bing Liu, 37, a researcher at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine was found shot to death inside his home in Pittsburgh, PA.
In a statement released by the University, it was stated that "Bing was on the verge of making very significant findings toward understanding the cellular mechanisms that underlie SARS-CoV-2 infection and the cellular basis of the following complications," the school said. "We will make an effort to complete what he started in an effort to pay homage to his scientific excellence."
One hour after Liu's body was discovered by the police, another body was discovered, Hao Gu, 46. His cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The two men knew each other, investigators believe that Gu killed Liu before taking his own life.
The authorities are saying that there is no link between Liu's death and his research. But with no apparent motive and with Liu being on "the verge of making very significant findings" the timing and circumstances are at the very least suspicious.
