We Didn't Start the Fire

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

There are over 2,000 fires burning in the Amazon. The media has been set ablaze, pointing fingers of who is to blame. Actors, musicians, athletes, and other celebrities have flooded the internet with old photos of wildfires, assuming that they are from the current fire in the Amazon.

Leo Dicaprio has been very vocal on the issue. However, his tweet contained an image from 2018. Actor Jaden Smith and YouTuber Logan Paul both stormed social media with pictures from 1989. Wheres the research? Soccer star, Cristiano Ronaldo rallied his 80 million twitter followers with "HELP SAVE OUR PLANET!", along with a picture from 2013. They have become the thing that they all hate the most... Fake News.

Diving even deeper into the situation, more facts start to rear their ugly head. The wildfires in the Amazon, are not the only fires in the world, nor are they the largest. Africa is smoldering beneath nearly five times the amount of wildfires. Angola has almost 7,000 active fires, while the Democratic Republic of Congo has over 3,000. Where is the outcry for support in Africa?

I guess that it doesn't fit the one-world, animal rights, Soylent green-eating, global warming narrative. Just like the mass amounts of intercity violence that take place in liberal controlled cities like Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore doesn't fit the race bating, social justice media quite like a small amount of white on black violence does.

"We didn't start the fire. It was always burning. Since the world's been turning" — Billy Joel

The truth is that, yes, while wildfires are devastating and can cause mass amounts of damage, they are necessary. Many of the fires in the Amazon are agriculture fires used by farmers to clear the land of pestilence and bring forth good, fertile ground for new life.

That is precisely what will happen in the day of the Lord. 2 Peter 3:10-13 "...elements shall melt with fervent heat...according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth." In this passage, Peter asked, "what manner of persons ought ye to be." These fires could be a picture of things to come if so are you working to reach those before it's too late? Are you about the fathers business? What about global warming, you ask? The only global warming is going to come in the form of judgment from the almighty God. Until then, God promised us in his word that the earth will be there until the end. There is nothing that we can do to destroy it.
